Frequently asked questions
The basics
What is RIP?
A graveyard for your dead Solana coins. Paste a wallet address and every coin that lost most of its value since you bought it gets a headstone. If you like, you can then hold a funeral: close those coins' empty accounts and bring the SOL they were holding back into your wallet.
What counts as a dead coin?
A coin that is down 75% or more since you bought it. When we can't see what you paid, we measure from its highest price instead. Coins we can't measure are never called dead. A headstone is a description of price data, not a verdict on any project or the people behind it.
Do I need to connect my wallet?
Not to look. Your graveyard is built from public data, so pasting your address is enough, and nothing is signed. You only connect a wallet if you decide to hold a funeral.
The SOL, and what it costs
Where does the SOL come from?
Every coin you ever bought on Solana opened a small token account in your wallet, a locker, with a deposit of SOL inside called rent: about 0.00204 SOL for older accounts and about 0.0015 SOL for newer ones. When a coin dies, or you sell all of it, the locker often stays, with the rent still inside. Closing it sends that SOL back to you.
How much will I get back?
It depends on how many lockers your wallet has left open. Ten is roughly 0.015 to 0.02 SOL; people who traded a lot of memecoins often have dozens or hundreds. The exact amount for your wallet is shown before you sign anything.
Does it cost anything?
No. RIP takes no fee. You pay only the Solana network fee for each transaction, a fraction of a cent, taken from the rent that comes back. There is an optional tip jar; nothing changes if you skip it.
Safety
Can RIP move my coins or my SOL?
No. We never hold your coins and our servers never sign anything. Every transaction is shown in your own wallet first, and nothing happens unless you approve it there. We will never ask for your seed phrase or private key.
Will it touch coins I still care about?
Only what you choose. Coins that are still alive are never ticked for you. If a living coin is worth less than $0.20, it is offered unticked, and burning it asks you to confirm. Coins worth more are only listed, never closed: sell them in your wallet first if you want their locker back.
Can I undo a funeral?
No. Closing an account is permanent, and any crumbs burned so a locker can close are gone for good. That's why you see a receipt and confirm before signing. If that coin ever lands in your wallet again, a new locker simply opens for it.
Someone messaged me saying they're from RIP.
That isn't us. We never send DMs. The site lives only at yourbags.rip, and our official accounts are listed on the official links page.
The graveyard
What are candles and the vigil?
You can light a candle on any grave. A candle melts after 24 hours unless someone relights it. Tonight's vigil shows the most mourned coins, by candles lit.
Why is it raining?
The sky follows SOL's mood. When SOL is down 2% or more over 24 hours it drizzles, at 5% or more a storm rolls in, and when it's up 3% or more the sky clears. Shooting stars cross the sky when SOL is up at least 1%.
What is Halloween mode?
A switch at the top of the home page that dresses the graveyard for Halloween. It's decoration only: nothing about your coins or the funeral changes.
Privacy
What do you store about me?
Very little. Your IP address is never stored, and we set no tracking cookies. Coins you bury are kept without your address, so their graves stay in your graveyard. Candles are tied to a random browser ID, never to a wallet. Details are in the privacy policy.
